Acts of Grace
At Grace Baptist Church we wish to see our family deepen their knowledge of the Scripture therefore strengthening their relationship with Christ. It is our desire to see each member of Grace Baptist Church take each of the ACTS of GRACE classes offered. These classes take place Sundays at 9:30 a.m. from September to June. Check out the new classes starting in January!
Radical Womanhood
Click here to check out this promo video for our study!
Calling all women- Steve Bray will be using a number of resources that will point you to a Biblical view of what it means to be a woman, and the main text will be "Radical Womanhood" by Carolyn McCully. Again, this is not just for women who are married and have children- this course will look at what the Bible says about being a woman (although, as with the men's course, if you are a wife or mother, it will help you better be both of these things through the grace of God in Christ). All ladies from post-high school and up are invited to attend; there is a sign up sheet at the welcome centre and we'd love to have every woman in the church take this course as we disciple ladies who will be able to disciple others more effectively.

Biblical Manhood

Calling all men- Jim Newson and Jeff Eastwood will be using a number of resources that all point us to a Biblical view of what it means to be a man. This is not geared towards only those men who are also husbands and fathers, this is a course on what the Bible says about being a man (although for the men who are husbands and fathers, this will help you become better at being both through the grace of God in Christ). All men from post-high school age and up are invited to attend; there is a sign up sheet at the welcome centre and we'd love to have every man in the church take this great course as the elders look to disciple and equip men to be men who can then disciple and equip others. Hope to see you there!

Courage (Youth Study)

This study is geared specifically to grade 7-12 students and features teaching by Francis Chan as well as real life testimonials from other teens learning to develop character to stand strong in their faith in Christ. This study is being led by Pastor Dan at 9:30am.
Previous courses taught have been …
Christian Beliefs:
God does not call every Christian to seminary, but there are certain matters of doctrine - that is, the church's teaching - that every Christian simply must know! Theology is important because what we believe affects how we live. If you are a relatively new believer in Jesus, or if you are a more mature Christian looking for a quick brush-up on basics of the faith, Christian Beliefs is for you.
The Gospel In Life:
Gospel in Life is a course on the gospel and how it is lived out in all of life— first in our hearts, then in community, and out into the world.
Resolving Conflict Biblically- The Peacemaking Church:
When a church experiences conflict, the results can be terribly painful: couples divorce, families and friends are divided, and in extreme cases, a church may split, and our witness for Christ is lost.
But it doesn't have to be this way. Many churches have embraced a 'Culture of Peace,' where members truly live out the gospel in their relationships and where the blessings of peace follow: strengthened marriages and families, healthier churches, and a thriving, gospel-centered ministry. Building a Culture of Peace doesn't happen overnight, though, it is a journey.
Living as a Church
Contemporary Ecclesiology:
Developments like seeker churches, mega-churches and emerging churches have brought ecclesiology to the forefront of evangelical debate. But too often important questions are answered solely on the basis of pragmatism or cultural relevance. What does it really mean to be the church?
This practical study, written by former pastor and missionary John Hammett, helps church leaders think through the foundational questions about the nature of the church. Blending biblical teaching and practical ministry experience, Hammett presents a comprehensive ecclesiology from a historical Baptist perspective, examining crucial contemporary issues such as meaningful church membership; church discipline; elders in Baptist churches; different worship styles, and various models like seeker churches, mega-churches, and emerging churches.
How We Got Our Bible:
This 14 week study will cover topics such as:
- The Birth of the Bible
- The Text of the New Testament
- How did the 66 books we have become our Bible today?
- The English Bible from 1611 to today.
This course will come with handouts and a wonderful power-point presentation. It will also follow a book by Neil Lightfoot, How we Got the Bible. I believe this book should be in the library of every Christian.
This class will explain how God gave the world His special revelation using men to do so. We will connect the dots from inspiration to inerrancy. This class will be challenging with a minimum of 20 pages of reading per week and questions to answer for discussion in class but it will also be a time to settle some things once and for all on the making and preserving of the Bible.
Basic Theology:
God doesn't call every Christian to go off to seminary, Bible College or Bible School, but there are certain matters of doctrine that every Christian simply must know. Theology is important because what we believe affects how we live. “But I'm not a theologian!” we hear you cry. “I leave that stuff to the pastors and professors!” Yet, in reality, everyone is a theologian. The question comes, what type of theologian are you?
This overview of basic doctrine will help you clarify and articulate your beliefs in accordance with the Bible. So, if you're a relatively new believer in Christ, or if you're a more mature Christian looking to be refreshed on the basics of your faith, this class is for you!
